Sheila McElroy was a four-year letterwinner with the CaseWestern Reserve University women’s soccer team, and led theteam as captain during her final three seasons. Throughout hercareer, she was chosen as an All-University Athletic Association,All-North Coast Athletic Conference, All-Region and All-Ohio soccerplayer. The NCAC honored McElroy by naming her DefensivePlayer of the Year in 1989, and also selected her to the NCAC 10thAnniversary Team. McElroy received the Dorothy L. Hoza Award in1989, which is given to an outstanding female student-athlete whohas made a strong contribution to a women’s intercollegiatesports program at Case Western Reserve. Academically, McElroy wasan Academic All-District IV and Academic All-Ohio selection, andwas a member of Tau Beta Pi, the Mortar Board and the Society ofWomen Engineers. McElroy graduated with a degree in biomedicalengineering in 1990.
