The only man to captain a Western Reserve football squad two years in a row, Edgar Tyler was a six-foot, two-inch, 190-pound rampaging fullback for two of the finest squads in WRU history. In his two seasons as a runner, “Tip” was a unanimous All-Ohio choice and was twice named All-Ohio Most Valuable Player. Tyler’s teams featured a two-year record of 16-1-1 with eight shutouts. Tyler was named to the WRU 50-Year All-Star team as a running back. He was also a star center fielder for the Western Reserve baseball squad with four varsity letters.
