(Updated October 2026)
In order to ensure the safety and security of all student-athletes, coaches, and officials, the Case Western Reserve University Department of Athletics and Physical Education has instituted the following policy regarding photography at varsity athletic events:
- Uncredentialed photographers are free to shoot in any area open to the general public (i.e. stands, outside the boundaries of the playing and bench areas, etc.), as long as their actions do not obstruct the view of other spectators.
- Any photographer wishing to shoot in a non-spectator area (on the turf at DiSanto Field, courtside at basketball, etc.) must be credentialed by the CWRU Sports Information Department in advance of the event by emailing Jon Schwartz, Associate Athletic Director for Communications & Media Relations, at jxs1341@case.edu.
- Any credential request must be made no fewer than 24 hours in advance of the event.
- Arrangements will be made for the distribution of credentials prior to the event. The credential must be visible throughout the event and returned at the end.
- Photographers must be aware of and respect all boundaries of the field and regulations regarding where and when they can be located. Violation of these boundaries will result in immediate loss of credential.
- Credentials can be revoked at any time at the discretion of CWRU Athletics staff.
- Photographers shooting in a non-spectator area without a credential will be asked to leave and return to the appropriate spectator area.
- Photographers shooting for other schools must have someone from the school's sports information staff reach out on their behalf with the credential request.
