Lee Courtney made exceptional contributions to the CIT footballteam. Courtney, who played halfback and defensive back, was aversatile player for the Rough Riders, and also performed kickingduties. Courtney majored in civil engineering and played varsityfootball from the 1959 season through the 1961 campaign. In 1959,he led the team in interceptions, and in 1960, he led the team inkickoff returns. Courtney has been a part of the Spartan Club formore than 30 years where he has served in various executive roles.The Courtney family is one of the first to have three generationsgraduate from CIT. Lee’s grandfather (1903), father (1931)and brother (1961) preceded him. Courtney’s uncle, also namedLee (1929), is also a member of the Spartan Club Hall of Fame.
