When Ed Kalaher ended his career at Case Western ReserveUniversity, the chemistry major was a seven-time NCAA Division IIIAll-American. He earned college’s most sought after award inthe shot put during the 1993–94, 1994–95 and1995–96 indoor and outdoor seasons and in the discus duringthe 1993–94 outdoor season. His top showing was third placeon five separate occasions. His 17.03-meter throw in thepreliminary round of his final national meet set a school-record,which still stood at time of his induction. Kalaher, a two-timeNorth Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Year, was aseven-time champion in the NCAC and a six-time champion in theUniversity Athletic Association for shot put, discus and hammerthrow. His teams won two indoor and one outdoor NCAC title and aUniversity Athletic Association outdoor title. He was named to theNorth Coast Athletic Conference’s 20th Anniversary Team in2004.
