As a chairman of the Flora Stone Mather College physical education department for over twenty years, Emily Andrews instituted and promoted many innovative programs. Andrews was one of the creators of the field of Danish Gymnastics and Body Mechanics, and she was key in creating the recreational program at Squire Valleevue Farm which has maintained a tradition of various student activities.   

She founded the modern dance program, which now serves as an important part of Case Western Reserve’s Theater Department. Each year, an award is given in her name to an outstanding senior who has made a strong contribution to the Women’s Intercollegiate Sports Program, maintained a high level of academic achievement, shown leadership in team, and contributed service to the department and university.
