Bill Leckie graduated from Adelbert College in 1933. Whileattending school, he played half back for the football team throughhis junior year, basketball as a first-year student, and wrestledall four years. As a wrestler, he was named captain as a senior andonly lost one match that season. His greatest athleticaccomplishment came his senior season when he became the State ofOhio champion for the 135-pound weight class. Besides being a greatathlete, he was a great overall student. He was a member of ahighly distinguished society called Warion. This society was“devoted chiefly to the advancement and strengthening of menwho are active in every phase of (Western) Reserve life, whether itbe athletic, scholastic, dramatic, oratorical or musical inaspect” (1933 Western Reserve Nihon).
