Emil played for the Case Institute of Technology men’s tennis team from 1955 through 1957, and was the squad’s top singles player, along with being a member of the top doubles pairing on the team.  He maintained a .800 winning percentage during his career, despite playing a high level of competition throughout his time as a Rough Rider.  In addition, he earned varsity letters each of his three eligible seasons on the CIT men’s soccer team, and was an Ohio State Collegiate Chess Champion.  Emil continued to play tennis competitively throughout his life, and was ranked as high as 17th nationally, along with his son William, in the USTA’s Super Senior Father-Son Doubles Division.
