Obinna Nwanna doing shot put at the NCAA Championships

One of just 19 Spartans to have claimed a National Championship at the time of his induction, Obinna Nwanna left a lasting legacy on the Case Western Reserve University track & field program. Nwanna won the decathlon at the 2010 NCAA Division III Championships, setting personal bests in seven events and scoring 7,056 points to become the first Spartan to win a National Championship in track & field in 20 years. He ended his collegiate career as a four-time All-American, earning the honor twice for the outdoor decathlon and twice for the indoor pentathlon. Nwanna claimed three University Athletic Association Championships in the high jump over his career and secured a remarkable 15 All-UAA finishes during his time as a Spartan.
