A standout in competition and in the classroom, Jennifer Ehrlinger earned four varsity letters in swimming as well as three in cross country in the late 1980s and early 1990s. In the pool, Jennifer led the team in four events in 1990 (100 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 1650 freestyle and 200 individual medley). A native of Cleveland Heights, she was an All-UAA performer in the 1650 free placing second with a time of 18:37.61 and third in the 500 free with a time of 5:23.87. A national qualifier in the 1650 freestyle in 1988 and 1989, Jennifer also earned academic All-America honors in each respective years. In 1989 she received the Dorothy L. Hoza Award and in 1990 was honored with the Emily R. Andrews Award. Jennifer graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, then returned to earn her Master of Arts from CWRU in 1995 as well as a Ph.D. in 1998. Following graduation, Butler served at CWRU for eight years between her positions as a teaching assistant, database consultant, and statistical consultant. In 2001, she moved on as a full-time assistant professor then associate professor at Wittenberg University until 2006. Butler returned to CWRU as an adjunct professor in 2003 and has served as a lecturer in psychological sciences since 2006. Returning to CWRU athletics, she also served as a volunteer assistant coach for the swim team in 2010, assisting with stroke technique.
