Following his playing days at Case Tech, football great Gordon“Cobby” Cobbledick went on to become one ofOhio’s most respected newspapermen.  Cobbledick wasknown as one of the foremost authorities on all sports,particularly baseball. His often-misunderstood tongue-in-cheekstyle carried “Cobby” to a spot in the writer’swing of Major League Baseball’s Hall of Fame in Cooperstown,New York. During his illustrious career as Plain Dealer sportseditor, Cobbledick was distinguished with awards granted to thosewriters considered the best in the field. Among them were TheSporting News’ prestigious J.G. Taylor Spink Award and thePresidency of the Baseball Writers Association of America.
