Drew Gardella stood out as both one of the top wrestlers in Division III and as one of the top students at CWRU during his time with the program. His accolades on the mat speak volumes – he earned All-America honors in 2009 with a sixth-place finish in the 149-pound weight class, and claimed a pair of University Athletic Association Championships, winning the conference title at 133 pounds in 2006 and at 149 pounds in 2008. His 2006 conference triumph earned him UAA Rookie of the Year honors, while his win in 2008 led to him being honored as the UAA's Most Outstanding Wrestler. Gardella holds a career 128-36 record, good for the third-most victories in program history at the time of his induction. He was also a recipient of the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship in 2009 and was a three-time NWCA Scholar All-American.
