CWRU Athletics

Otto Penicka was one of the most dedicated employees in the history of the Department of Athletics at Case Western Reserve University, and his passion for Spartan athletics was unmatched. He spent over 30 years with the department and performed a number of wide-ranging duties during that time, including facility management, supervision of student employees and various game day activities. His greatest joy came in serving as 'The Voice of the Spartans,' and was the public address announcer for most sports, including football, soccer, volleyball, wrestling, softball, and track & field over the course of his career. Otto was a fixture on the CWRU campus until his retirement in 2020 and was well-known by each of the student-athletes who have come through the program over his career.
