Ed Steigerwald was a shining example of the idealstudent-athlete. A standout performer on Nip Heim’s CITbasketball teams of the early 1950s, Steigerwald earned All-BigFour honors in three-consecutive seasons. A co-captain as a senior,he set a number of school scoring records, including single seasonand career points, and was selected as a member of CoachHeim’s All-Time CIT team. Off the court, Steigerwald servedas class President for three years.
