Greg Williams was one of the leaders of the Case Institute of Technology men's cross country teams that won the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship each of his years on the team. He claimed an individual conference title during his senior season, placing first in the field with a time of 26:55 in the five-mile race. It marked the third-straight season he placed among the top-three finishers at the PAC Championship, after placing second in 1969 and third in 1970. The team was undefeated in dual meets during his four seasons, beginning a nine-year stretch without a loss for the squad. Williams, who was captain of the cross country team his senior year, was named to the PAC Cross Country 60th Anniversary Team.
