Sharon Lynn Sanborn received countless academic and athleticaccolades during her time at Case Western Reserve University,including being named the NCAA Woman of the Year in 1998. As afour-year letter winner with the swimming and diving team, Sanbornwas a three-time NCAA All-American and, upon graduation, she hadbroken six school swimming records. During her senior year, shereceived the GTE Academic All-American Athlete of the Year awardand was an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipient. Sanborngraduated summa cum laude and earned the National Merit Scholarshipin 1994 through 1998. She also received the Provost’sScholarship in 1994 through 1998 and was in the Golden Key NationalHonor Society in 1996 through 1998. Sanborn was awarded theAthletic Department’s Patricia B. Kilpatrick Award, presentedto the four-year varsity participant with the highest grade-pointaverage.
