CWRU Athletics

From the time he came to CWRU in 1974 until his retirement in1985, Bill Grice was responsible for many changes in CWRU’sathletic program. He supervised the planning and completion of theEddie L. Finnigan Field athletic complex, which won a nationalaward for the best maintained outdoor facility in 1983. During hisCWRU career, Grice increased the number of varsity sports from 15to 19 and doubled the number of women’s sports from four toeight. Grice also served seven years as a member of the NCAAExecutive Committee and was the chairman of the NCAA Division IIIFootball Committee for two years. CWRU gives an award in his honoreach year to the Most Valuable Player on the Spartan footballteam.
