Ronald Stepanovic spent his time at Case Western Reserve roamingthe secondary as a four-year letter-winning defensive back on theSpartan football team. Stepanovic was named a four-timeAll-Conference (Presidents' Athletic Conference 1982-83 and NorthCoast Athletic Conference 1984–85) player at his position. Hewas a three-time Associated Press Division III All-American and afirst-team Pizza Hut All-American his final season. In 1984,Stepanovic was a team captain on head coach Jim Chapman’s 9-0squad.  The 1984 team was the first undefeated football teamin the modern era. Following his career at Case Western Reserve, hewas then named to the North Coast Athletic Conference’s(NCAC) 10th Anniversary All-Decade Team (1984-93). Stepanovic alsoplayed one season in Italy with the Milano Seamen of the ItalianFootball Association. In 1988, Stepanovic graduated magna cum laudefrom the Case Western Reserve School of Law, ranking third of 215students in his class.
