Clarence Stage set records in numerous track events, including the 200-yard dash, the standing broad jump, the half-mile and the hop, step and jump. Some of his records stood until the merger in 1967. In addition, he captained the first Adelbert track team, played varsity baseball and football and was president of the Adelbert Athletic Association. Stage played halfback in football as well as left field, shortstop and pitcher in baseball.
