Andrew Katz was the Case Western Reserve University footballteam’s team captain from 1978–79 and a four-yearletterman for the Spartans under Hall of Fame coach Bob Del Rosa.He also earned letters in track & field in 1976 and 1977. Heearned the football team’s first All-American honor in 25seasons his senior year. Katz led the team in tackles twice, and asa sophomore he led the University to its most wins in 16 seasons.The two-time All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference honoree wasnamed the league's Most Valuable Player in 1979. Katz majored inpolitical science at Case Western Reserve. After graduation, hespent 10 years in the U.S. Marine Corps as an infantry andintelligence officer and served in a variety of overseasassignments.
