Millard Bell wrestled for CIT in the early 1930s. A member ofthe varsity wrestling team for three years, Bell was the statechampion his junior and senior years in the 145-pound weight class.While attending CIT, he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilonfraternity, Theta Tau engineering fraternity, the Skull Bones, theBlue Key, and the Case Senate. He also participated in theInterfraternity Council his junior and senior years, was editor ofCIT’s yearbook, the Differential, and was awarded the HonorKey at commencement. Some of Bell’s achievements include theinvention of a self-sealing fuel cell while working as a fieldengineer in the aeronautical division of BF Goodrich Company duringWorld War II. Additionally, he was senior systems engineer for boththe Surveyor and Mariner spacecraft at the Jet Propulsion Lab.
