The fifth-ranked Case Western Reserve University men's tennis will be headed to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship after besting the 15th-ranked University of Mary Washington 4-0 in the third round of the tournament on Sunday afternoon at the Carlton Courts in Cleveland.
The Spartans now stand at 28-8 on the season with the win, while the Eagles fell to 21-7 with the setback.

The Spartans continue their NCAA Division III Championship run in the quarterfinals against fourth-ranked Denison in a rematch of last year's NCAA Division III Championship match. The match will be held at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee on Tuesday, May 19.

After Mary Washington claimed a win at no. 1 doubles, sophomores Rowan Matorin and Leon Chen (playing together in a match for the first time this season) locked up the doubles point for the Spartans with a 6-3 victory at no. 2 doubles.

Senior Matthew Plunkett, ranked 29th in Division III, secured a straight-set win at no. 2 singles to expand the CWRU lead to 2-0, and another straight-set win from Matorin at fifth singles put the Spartans a victory away from clinching the match.

Graduate student Bryce Ware would write the Spartans' ticket to Chattanooga with a three-set win in the sixth singles match to clinch the Spartans' triumph.

When play was stopped due to the decision, 23rd-ranked junior Santiago Salazar Garza was ahead 4-1 in the second set after dropping the first set 7-5 at no. 1 singles, Devaraj trailed 4-6, 6-3, 2-3 at no. 3 singles, and graduate student Ansh Shah split the first two sets at no. 4 singles, 6-4, 4-6.
