Prior to CWRU

Was a two-year member of the Mission San Jose High School tennis team, serving as a captain during his senior year… Coached by Michael Jan… Led his team to the North Coast Section Championship and a third-place finish at the state championship in 2024… Helped pace the squad to the Mission Valley Athletic League title in both 2024 and 2025… Won the North Coast Section Doubles Championship as a junior… Was his team Most Valuable Player, placed fourth at the North Coast Section Singles Championship, and was named to the all-district first team as a senior… Went 14-0 as the team’s no. 2 singles player as a junior and 11-3 as the no. 1 singles player during his senior campaign… Also received coaching from Max Taylor and Sylvano Simone… Was the runner-up in the consolation doubles draw of the Boys 14s Hardcourt Championship.

Personal

Born September 21… The son of Ramani Mathrubutham and Sushma Chandrasekaran… His sister, Shreya, was a member of the CWRU women’s tennis team from 2019-23… Played the bass clarinet in orchestra all four years of high school.
