Sixth-Ranked CWRU Falls to #12 Emory, 6-1

The Case Western Reserve University men's tennis team, ranked sixth in Division III, dropped a 6-1 decision to 12th-ranked Emory University on Saturday night at the Mayfield Village Racquet Club in Mayfield, Ohio.

The loss ended a three-game winning streak for the Spartans, who dropped to 19-5 overall, while Emory won its fifth consecutive match to improve to 9-5.

  • CWRU clinched the doubles point with wins from seniors Rohan Bhat and Anmay Devaraj at no. 3 doubles and the clincher from junior Trey Lambright and graduate student Bryce Ware at no. 1 doubles.

  • Despite winning the doubles point, CWRU was swept in singles play. Four of the six singles matches went to a third set.

  • Saturday's loss was the first home setback of the season for the Spartans, who dropped to 3-1 on their home court.

  • CWRU has won the doubles point in 20 of its 24 matches this season. The Spartans are 17-3 when winning the doubles point.

  • Lambright and Ware improved to 15-6 together this season in doubles matches, while Bhat and Devaraj raised their doubles record to 12-6, including an 11-2 mark in dual matches.

  • Including the fall, CWRU stands at 218-87 (.715) in singles play and 88-51 (.633) in doubles action as a team this season following Friday's action. The Spartans have a combined .757 (109-35) winning percentage in singles matches, and a .695 (50-22) doubles winning percentage in dual matches.

  • Saturday's loss ended the Spartans' five-match winning streak against Emory, dating back to the 2022 campaign.
