The Case Western Reserve University men's track and field team placed fifth at the University Athletic Association Outdoor Championships to highlight the 2025 outdoor season.
Eight members of the team secured All-UAA honors at the championships, hosted by New York University at Icahn Stadium in Manhattan, New York, across five events. Individually, sophomore Toby Langsner placed second in the hammer throw with a toss of 46.07 meters for his second career podium finish. Junior Bryce Hodge placed third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.09 seconds, earning his third career All-UAA honor, and first-year Madhan Manikandaswamy placed third in the finals of the 400-meter dash in 49.36 seconds.
Manikandaswamy totaled three third place finishes at the conference meet, added a pair of bronze medals as a member of both the 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay. Junior Josh Bates joined him on both relays to bring his career All-UAA total to five. The shorter relay, finishing in 43.19 seconds, had junior Troy Olson and senior Jack Xia. Graduate student Yusuf Shaaban and first-year Charlie Stipanovich were on the longer relay that recorded a time of 3:19.25. The result marked the second career All-UAA honor for Shaaban and first for Olson, Xia, and Stipanovich.
The Spartans performed well at both the Sparky Adams Invitational, hosted by Baldwin Wallace University, and Wooster Invitational, hosted by the College of Wooster, earlier in April, placing second as a team at both meets. At BW, the team won five events including the pole vault (junior Anthony DeCarlo), javelin throw (first-year Chance Schreier), 400-meter hurdles (Bates), 4x400-meter relay (Bates, Shaaban, Manikandaswamy, senior Hans Holst), and 110-meter hurdles (junior Joshua Park). Bates placed first in the 400-meter hurdles at Wooster, and senior Stephen Henry won the 5,000-meter run at the invite. Later in the season, Holst recorded the 97th-fastest time in Division III and third-best mark in program history in the 800-meter run (1:53.24) at the Harrison Dillard Twilight, also hosted by Baldwin Wallace.
Five members of the squad received Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators for their achievements on the track and in the classroom. They included Hodge, Langsner, Park, senior Nate Gilbert, and sophomore Jacob Slater.
