The Case Western Reserve University wrestling team extended its winning streak to nine with a pair of victories at the 2026 Claude Sharer Duals held inside Horsburgh Gymnasium in Cleveland on Saturday. CWRU defeated Manchester University 33-10 and followed with a 37-12 win over the University of Mount Union.

The CWRU Spartans improved to 10-2 in dual matches this season. The Manchester Spartans moved to 4-5, while the Purple Raiders dropped to 7-6.

Stats and Standouts

• Senior Art Martinez, sophomore Robert Minden, senior Thomas Wagner, senior Marty Landes, and first-year Alexander Goldman all went 2-0 for CWRU
• Wagner scored bonus points in both bouts, winning by pin and technical fall
• Martinez had a technical fall and major decision, and Minden had a pin and a decision
• Landes secured a technical fall and a decision, and Goldman won by pin and major decision

#21 CWRU 33, Manchester 10

• After Manchester won the first bout, CWRU took the next five matches to take a 20-4 lead
• Martinez won by technical fall, 19-3, over the sixth-ranked wrestler in the region
• First-year Hunter Keane followed with a major decision, 15-1, over the fifth-ranked wrestler in the region, and Minden pinned the eighth-ranked wrestler in the region in 1:57
• Wagner did not give up a point in a 15-0 technical fall, and Landes secured a 17-2 technical fall in the first period over the eighth-ranked wrestler in the region
• After a tight decision at 174 pounds, junior Mathew Gummere won by major decision at 184 pounds to add four points for CWRU and clinch the win
• Goldman ended the dual with a 12-1 major decision in the heavyweight bout

#21 CWRU 37, Mount Union 12

• Senior E.J. Alizio started the match with a pin in 3:54, his seventh of the season, to give the Spartans a 6-0 lead
• Martinez followed with a major decision and the Spartans added six points with a forfeit at 141 pounds
• Minden won his second bout of the day, securing a 13-7 decision, and Wagner won by pin in 2:58 to make the score 25-0
• In the 165-pound bout, Landes won 7-1 by decision over the sixth-ranked wrestler in the region, and sophomore Chase Crutchley followed with a 5-1 decision at 174 pounds
• The Purple Raiders won their first bout at 184 pounds
• Golden secured his second career pin in the following bout, giving CWRU a 37-6 lead, and the match ended with a forfeit

Spartan Notes

• The Spartans last had double-digit wins in duals during the 2023-24 campaign, when the team went 10-3
• Wagner's pin was his fourth during the 2025-26 season
• Keane improved to 23-5 in his first collegiate season, leading the team in wins
• Martinez moved into a tie for fourth place in program history in career wins, securing his 126th victory on Saturday
• In extra matches, junior Louka Babic and first-year Kodi Pfeiffer both went 2-0 with a win by fall and by technical fall
• First-year Cole Rose and first-year Nate Boyd secured pins in extra matches, and junior Mike Valerino added a technical fall
