Case Western Reserve University senior Aidan Nathan, sophomore Jacob Slater, and first-year Donovan Crowley each earned all-region honors to lead the Spartans to a fourth-place finish at the 2024 NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region Championship at Blue River Park in Shelbyville, Indiana.
The Spartans finished fourth overall out of 39 teams, finishing the meet with 137 points. Calvin topped the men's standings with a score of 99, followed by John Carroll (112) and Hope (129). Trine rounded out the top five teams with a score of 166.
Nathan was the team's top finisher on Saturday, placing seventh out of 274 total runners in the race. He completed the 8K course in a time of 24:58.3. Slater placed 27th overall in a time of 25:39.9, while Crowley was 30th with a mark of 25:42.8.
Two other Spartan runners narrowly missed out on all-region honors, which are presented to the top 35 finishers at the meet. First-year Adam Esa was 36th overall in a time of 25:52.9, while graduate student Stephen Henry was 37th with a mark of 25:53.3.
Two other CWRU runners were in action on Saturday with senior Nate Gilbert finishing 64th with a time of 26:18.9 and sophomore Seth Tivakaran placing 72nd with a time of 26:29.8.
Wabash's Brayden Curnutt won the men's race with a time of 24:36.83.
CWRU will now turn its attention to next weekend's NCAA Division III Championship meet at the Laverne Gibson Course in Terre Haute, Indiana. Following his performance on Saturday, Nathan will be in a strong spot to receive an individual bid to the championship field, while the Spartans have a chance to qualify as an at-large team with their fourth-place finish.
The championship field will be posted to ncaa.com no later than 3:00 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday, November 17. More information on the event will be posted to athletics.case.edu later in the week.

Nathan earned his second career All-Region honor after placing 22nd at the NCAA Regional meet in 2022. It was the first career all-region honor for both Slater and Crowley.
