The Case Western Reserve University men's and women's cross country teams will be represented by three runners at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning at the Roger Milliken Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina, as junior Jacob Slater and sophomore Donovan Crowley will be competing for the men, while first-year Francesca Taracila will be in action for the women.
All three CWRU runners earned an individual berth into the NCAA Championship field, based on their finishes at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship last weekend. Slater placed third and Crowley seventh at the meet to secure their spots, while Taracila was ninth in the women's race.
This is the 22nd consecutive season that CWRU will be represented by at least one runner at the NCAA Championships. Slater and Crowley became the 14th and 15th Spartans ever to earn an individual qualification to the NCAA Championship field. It is just the third time that two CWRU men have earned individual qualification for the NCAA Championship, and the first time since 1994. Taracila's berth marked the 10th time a CWRU woman has qualified individually for the NCAA Championship field.
The NCAA Division III Championship men's 8K race is slated for a 10:00 a.m. start, to be followed by the women's 6K race at 11:00 a.m.
