Slater & Crowley Earn NCAA Spots with Regional Performances

Case Western Reserve University junior Jacob Slater and sophomore Donovan Crowley each secured their spots in the field for next weekend's NCAA Division III Championship, as each notched a top-10 finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship at Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday morning.

  • The Spartans finished sixth out of 37 teams on Saturday, finishing with a score of 212.

  • Hope, ranked 16th in Division III, won the race with a score of 53.

  • Following Hope in the standings were Rose-Hulman (94), John Carroll (129), Baldwin Wallace (196), and Otterbein (201).

Individual Results


  • Slater paced the Spartans on Saturday with a time of 24:56.8, placing third overall out of 272 finishers in the men's 8K race to earn All-Region honors for the second-straight season after placing 27th at last year's meet.

  • Crowley also claimed All-Region honors for the second consecutive season, placing seventh overall (an improvement on his 30th-place finish last season) with a career-best time of 25:06.8. 

  • Sophomore Adam Esa missed out on All-Region acclaim by just one place, finishing 36th with a time of 25:59.4.

  • First-year Jacob Porter placed 82nd with a time of 26:37.2, and graduate student Mike Lombardi was 88th with a time of 26:41.2 to round out the Spartans' scorers on Saturday.

  • Sophomore Brendan Bradish completed the list of CWRU competitors at the meet, crossing the line in 105th place with a time of 26:58.9.

  • Rose-Hulman's Sam Rinker won the men's 8K race with a time of 24:51.3.

Spartan Notes


  • By virtue of recording top-seven finishes on Saturday, both Slater and Crowley secured individual entry to the NCAA Division III Championships.

  • This was the third consecutive season that the Spartans have placed sixth at the NCAA Regionals.

  • CWRU entered the meet ranked fourth in the Great Lakes Region.

The Spartans will now await the official announcement of the field for the 2025 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, which is slated to be posted no later than 3:00 p.m. on ncaa.com. The 2025 NCAA Division Championships will be held in Spartanburg, South Carolina, at the Roger Milliken Center on Saturday, November 22. The men's 8K race is scheduled for a 10:00 a.m. start, followed by the women's 6K race at 11:00 a.m.
