The Case Western Reserve University men's tennis team continued its fall season this weekend, splitting the squad between the Everybody vs. Cancer Invitational at the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio, and the Oberlin Invitational, hosted by Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio.

Stats and Standouts

• CWRU players went 40-30 (.571) in singles matches, and 18-22 (.450) in doubles matches combined over the two competitions.

• A pair of Spartans - junior Jon Totorica and sophomore Adam Memije - went 4-0 in singles play during the weekend, while six additional Spartans went undefeated in singles matches.

• In doubles action, sophomore Ethan Jacob and first-year Revanth Kothapalli went 3-0 together at Oberlin, while Totorica and junior Rohit Jain also picked up three doubles victories, going 3-1 in Toledo.

Everybody vs. Cancer Invitational

• In addition to the Spartans and host Toledo (Division I), other schools that competed at the Everybody vs. Cancer Invitational included Wayne State (Division II), Grand Valley State (Division II), Tiffin (Division II), and Indiana University Indianapolis (Division I).

• Competing for the Spartans at the event were junior Rowan Matorin, senior Santiago Salazar Garza, junior Leon Chen, junior Luke Saylor, first-year Deepinder Singh, Totorica, Jain, Memije, junior Konrad Kwiatkowski, sophomore Xander Jhaveri, first-year Daniel Zhang, and first-year Evan Kaufman.

• CWRU finished the weekend with a 25-20 (.556) singles record and a 9-10 (.474) doubles mark.

• In addition to Totorica and Memije, Saylor added three singles wins, while Jain, Jhaveri, Kwiatkowski, Singh, and Zhang each earned a pair of singles wins.

• Besides the 3-1 showing from Totorica and Jain, Kaufman and Singh, and Chen and Matorin each earned a pair of doubles wins.

Oberlin Invitational

• Along with CWRU and Oberlin, other schools in action at the Oberlin Invitational included Findlay, Allegheny, Kenyon, Ohio Northern, Tiffin, and Chicago.

• Competing for CWRU at Oberlin were senior George Kosseifi, senior Derek Shiffer, sophomore Nikhil Ramani, first-year Jaden Dai, sophomore Shay Gupta, first-year Rishi Palle, senior Trey Lambright, sophomore Glen Ngo, Kothapalli, Jacob, first-year Harry Glickstein, first-year David Bell, first-year Arnav Arora, first-year Luca Ospino, and first-year Langston Walter-Wu.

• The Spartans were 15-10 (.600) in singles matches and 9-12 (.429) in doubles contests at Oberlin.

• Bell, Kothapalli, and Palle each went 2-0 in singles contests during the weekend.

• Kosseifi took to the court for the first time since last fall, defeating Chicago's Alexander Ekstrand, who ended last year ranked 22nd in Division III, in straight sets.

• Kosseifi and Lambright went 2-1 together in doubles play, as did Arora and Walter-Wu. 

Spartan Notes

• The Spartans now stand at 64-39 (.621) in singles matches and 25-34 (.424) in doubles play during the fall.

• Kothapalli leads all Spartans with five singles wins this year, with Totorica (4-0), Memije (4-0), and Jacob (3-0) also undefeated so far this year.
