Sophomore Gabby Lee and first-year Shayli Dodia of the Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team advanced to the semifinal round of the 2026 ITA Division III Women's Central Regional Championship hosted by Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on Saturday.
Lee and Dodia, seeded ninth in the draw, will face top-seeded Eleanor Archer and Caitlin Bui from WashU in the semifinal on Sunday. The winner of the match will be invited to the ITA Cup in October and will face either second-seeded Leila Epstein and Ally Lin from WashU or third-seeded Rosalyn Chan and Clara Zou from Chicago.
Lee and Dodia won a pair of matches in tiebreakers on Saturday. The duo first upset the fourth-seeded pairing of Anika Paul and Lily Zawaneh from Chicago 8-7 (7-5). In the next round, the Spartans won 8-7 (8-6) over the fifth-seeded partnership of Samantha Slowik and Cassandra Li from WashU.
Sophomore Atra Biria and senior Katie Wong lost 3-8 in the round of 16 of the doubles draw. Later in the day, Wong fell 1-6, 1-6 to ninth-seeded Zawaneh in the round of 32 of the singles draw and Biria lost 4-6, 3-6 to fifth-seeded Epstein in the singles round of 32. Lee fell 1-6, 0-6 to ninth-seeded Isabelle Chong from Chicago in her first singles match of the day, and Dodia lost 5-7, 6-7 (7-9) to Lora Szabo from Kenyon in the singles round of 32.
