The Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team continued its fall season with two days of competition at the Kenyon Invitational in rainy Gambier, Ohio, on Saturday and Sunday.
The Spartans won four singles and seven doubles matches across the two days, facing competition from the University of Chicago, Carnegie Mellon University, Denison University, and Kenyon College.
Stats and Standouts
- Sophomore Rasika Anandakumar won her only singles match (6-1, 6-0 over Ariana Rodriguez of Denison) and added three doubles wins, two with sophomore Trisha Vellanki and one with junior Sara Fernandez
- Sophomore Tara Markovic won one singles match (5-7, 7-5, 10-8 over Maggie Shope of Kenyon) and two doubles matches with first-year partner Katie Ruci
- In addition to her doubles wins with Anandakumar, Vellanki paired with junior Yasemin Bilgin for a 6-1 win over Denison's Rodriguez and Kate Swigert
- First-year Daryana Skobeleva picked up a singles victory over Allison Hsieh of Carnegie Mellon (5-7, 6-0, 10-6) and a doubles win with sophomore Emma Thoms, 6-3 over Maddie Larsen and Sophia Gallagher from Denison
- Sophomore Gabby Lee also had a singles victory, defeating Sydney Wszolek of Denison 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-2, and a doubles triumph with first-year Shayli Dodia, 6-2 over Rafaella Ramos and Madeline Bradshaw from Denison
- Junior Maya Brink defeated Sunny Lu from Chicago 6-4, 6-4 in singles play and added a 6-4 doubles victory over Lu and Arianna Liu with first-year Allison Wayne
- Sophomore Atra Biria and graduate student Victoria Vasquez partnered for a 6-2 doubles win over Clara Zou and Rosalyn Chan from Chicago
