Senior Peter Meng of the Case Western Reserve University men's swimming and diving team earned his third career All-University Athletic Association honors on the third day of the 2025 UAA Championships hosted by Emory University at the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatic Center in Atlanta on Friday.
Meng placed third in the A Final of the 400 IM in 3:53.69 to earn his first all-conference honor at this year's championship. It is his second All-UAA honor in the event after he placed second last season, and his time was an NCAA B cut.
In the 3-meter dive, two Spartans reached the final. Senior Nico Billoni earned his best ever finish at the conference championships, placing fourth with a score of 413.85. Sophomore Jack Rudofsky finished eighth with a tally of 366.05 after qualifying for the final with a prelim score of 397.50. Additionally, senior Alex Waltman finished 10th by scoring 375.05.
Junior William Froass qualified for a pair of C Finals and helped the 200 Medley Relay place sixth on Friday night. Individually, Froass placed 19th in the 100 Back in 50.71 seconds and 19th in the 100 Fly in 49.50 seconds. He was joined by juniors Emil LaSida, Julian Kim, and Ben Borvendeg for the relay, finishing in 1:30.22.
LaSida placed 13th in the 100 Back with a time of 50.09 seconds in the B Final. Joining Froass in the C Final of the 100 Back were sophomore Michael Boelens, who tied for 20th in 50.95 seconds, and senior Anthony Colangelo, who placed 24th with a time of 52.32 seconds.
In the 200 Free, junior Mason Bencurik finished 16th with a time of 1:40.54 in the C Final after a prelim time of 1:40.28. First-year Owen Miao recorded a time of 1:41.33 in the C Final to place 22nd.
Junior Joshua Hernandez and first-year Sam Schultz also reached the finals of the 400 IM. Hernandez placed 19th in 4:06.06 after a time of 4:05.92 in the morning session, and Schultz finished 21st overall after finishing the C Final in 4:11.04.
Junior John Drumm placed 21st in the 100 Fly in 50.04 seconds after reaching the C Final with a time of 49.86 seconds. Both first-year Edgar Rutkauskas and senior Ben Zuo raced in the C Final of the 100 Breast with Rutkauskas placing 23td in 57.04 seconds and Zuo finishing 24th in 57.17 seconds.
The UAA Championships conclude tomorrow with the 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, 1650 Free, and 400 Free Relay. Preliminary races begin at 10 a.m. with finals scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
