Senior swimmer John Drumm and first-year diver Ryan Wells of the Case Western Reserve University men's swimming and diving team earned Second Team All-America honors based on their performances on the first day of the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis.
Drumm placed 16th in the 500 Free with a time of 4:29.66 in the consolation final. In the prelims, he broke his own school record in the event, touching the wall at 4:26.67. The time was ninth-fastest among the 35 competitors and just 0.11 seconds away from qualifying Drumm for the championship final. His previous school record of 4:27.53 was set at the Total Performance Invite last October.
Drumm earned All-America honors in the event for the second consecutive year after placing 15th last season. It is his fifth career All-America recognition, tied for the seventh most in program history.
Wells placed 14th in the 3-meter dive with a score of 461.05 in the consolation final. He reached the final by scoring 454.25 in the preliminary round, the 15th-best mark out of the 24 competitors in the event.
This is Wells's first All-America honor. He is just the second-ever member of the CWRU men's swimming and diving team to place in the top 16 in the 3-meter dive after Connor Farrell finished 14th in 2016.
Additionally, the quartet of first-year Sohalya Rawlins, junior Ava Ellis, junior Sheila Monera Cabarique, and senior Eliza Dixon of the women's swimming and diving team placed 21st in the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 3:51.67.
After one day of competition, the CWRU men's team is tied for 28th out of 37 scoring teams with four points.
CWRU will continue competition tomorrow at the NCAA Championships with members competing in the 200 Free and 200 Free Relay. Preliminary action is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with finals scheduled for 6 p.m.
