CWRU Men’s Cross Country Finishes Sixth at UAAs

The Case Western Reserve University men's cross country team kicked off its championship season with a sixth-place finish at the 2025 UAA Championship, hosted by Washington University (Mo.) at the SIUE Cross Country Course in Edwardsville, Illinois, on Saturday afternoon.

Team Results


  • The Spartans, who entered the meet receiving votes in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll, finished sixth out of eight teams, finishing with a score of 155.

  • Sixth-ranked NYU won the men's race with a score of 27. The Violets were followed in the standings by ninth-ranked Chicago (50), 16th-ranked Carnegie Mellon (88), 19th-ranked WashU (92), and Emory (138). Finishing behind the Spartans were Rochester in seventh place (185) and Brandeis in eighth (245).

Individual Results


  • Junior Jacob Slater was the top finisher for the Spartans, narrowly missing out on All-UAA honors by placing 15th out of 77 total finishers on Saturday. He crossed the finish line in a time of 25:21.2.

  • Slater was followed by sophomore Donovan Crowley, who was 27th overall with a mark of 25:37.8. Sophomore Adam Esa was third among Spartan runners with a time of 26:03.1, while first-year Jay Woodhouse placed 43rd in a time of 26:06.3, and sophomore Brandon Bradish was 45th in a time of 26:08.1 to complete the top-five scoring finishers for CWRU.

  • Acting as displacers for the Spartans were first-year Jacob Porter, who was 46th in a time of 26:11.1, and graduate student Mike Lombardi, who was 48th with a mark of 26:17.6.

  • Also competing on Saturday were first-years Kian Schneeweis (63rd, 26:59.2) and Tyler Ginther (64th, 27:01.7), along with senior Solomon Greene (68th, 27:22.6).

Spartan Notes


  • Both Bradish and Porter recorded their career-best 8K times on Saturday. Bradish bested his previous career-best mark by 11.3 seconds, while Porter was 24.0 seconds ahead of his previous personal best.

  • In addition to being ranked nationally, the Spartans also entered the meet ranked second in the Great Lakes Region. Seven of the eight UAA teams entered Saturday ranked in their respective regions.

  • This was the third consecutive year that the Spartans have placed sixth at the UAA Championship.

CWRU's top runners will turn their attention to the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship at Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday, November 15. Meanwhile, the Spartans will also send a contingent of runners to the Wooster Twilight 5K Challenge in Wooster, Ohio, on Friday, November 7.
