The Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team ended the fall portion of its 2025-26 season with competition at the Ashland Invitational hosted by Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio, on Saturday and Sunday at the Deborah Liebert Karl Tennis Complex.
Members of the team competed against players from Division II Ashland, John Carroll University, and Oberlin College.
Stats and Standouts
- Five different Spartans won all five of their matches over the weekend: first-year Gabby Lee, first-year Atra Biria, junior Kareena Sivanesan, sophomore Yasemin Bilgin, and sophomore Maya Brink
- Lee, Biria, and Sivanesan won three doubles matches and two singles matches, while Bilgin and Brink were victorious in three singles matches and two doubles matches
- First-year Ava Karrenbauer won five of her six matches, going 3-0 in singles play and 2-1 in doubles action
- Senior Katalina Wang, junior Katie Wong, first-year Emma Thoms, and first-year Trisha Vellanki all went 2-0 in singles matches and 2-1 in doubles battles
- Junior Prachi Shah added two wins each in singles and doubles, and sophomore Sara Fernandez contributed a pair of singles victories and a win in doubles play
- First-year Tara Markovic won two doubles matches with Vellanki and added a singles win
Spartan Notes
- Overall, the team went 28-4 (.875) in singles play and 14-4 (.778) in doubles matches
- The Spartans finished the fall season with a 78-28 (.736) singles record and 44-16 (.733) doubles record across four competitions
