Box Score The 15th-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team won its fourth consecutive match, defeating 29th-ranked Kenyon College 5-4 at the Jasper Tennis Center in Gambier, Ohio, on Friday evening.
The Spartans improved to 10-3 with the win, while the Owls fell to 5-6 on the season.
CWRU won two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead heading into singles play. After dropping the second doubles match 8-4, senior Pallavi Goculdas and junior Anna Kan evened the match score with an 8-4 win at third doubles over Lalasa Nagireddy and Ana Brand. Juniors Hannah Kassaie and Lily McCloskey prevailed in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (3), at first doubles over Eleni Lazaridou and Allaire Berl to end doubles play.
Kan increased the team's overall lead with a 6-4, 6-3 win at fourth singles over Eleni Dakos. The Owls cut into the deficit with a win at third singles, but Kassaie put the Spartans a point away from clinching with a 7-6 (1), 6-3 victory at first singles over Lazaridou. A 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 second singles win by the Owls cut made the score 4-3, but junior Radha Patel delivered the clinching point by prevailing 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 over Brand at fifth singles. Kenyon ended the match with a win by retirement at sixth singles.
CWRU will return home for its Senior Weekend next weekend, starting with a contest against Division II Walsh University on Friday, April 5 at 1 p.m.
