Box Score The 17th-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team won 9-0 over Kalamazoo College on Saturday at the Denison Tennis Courts in Granville, Ohio.
The Spartans improved to 4-1 with their third straight win, while the Hornets fell to 4-2.
CWRU swept the doubles matches to start the day with a 3-0 lead.
First-year Prachi Shah and sophomore Elsa Syed started with an 8-1 win at third doubles over Eleni Bougioukou and Molly Stevison. Junior Radha Patel and sophomore Katalina Wang followed with an 8-1 win at first doubles over Maddie Hurley and Juliana Pullen. To complete the sweep, junior Anna Kan and senior Pallavi Goculdas defeated Olivia Wolfe and Ivy Walker 8-4 at second doubles.
Senior Chloe Ku began singles play with a 6-2, 6-1, win over Walker at fourth singles. Junior Hannah Kassaie clinched the team victory with a 6-1, 6-2, win over Pullen at first singles. At third singles, Syed defeated Bougiokou 6-0, 6-2, and at second singles sophomore Asha Shukla took down Hurley 6-2, 6-1.
Sophomore Ellior Rose bested Stevison at fifth singles, 6-3, 6-2, and first-year Kareena Sivanesan won 6-0, 6-0 over Soussana Kimbouris at sixth singles to complete the sweep.
The Spartans will return to Granville on Sunday to face 20th-ranked Denison at 2 p.m.
