The 13th-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team defeated the University of Rochester 5-0 on Friday at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida, to advance to the University Athletic Association Fifth Place Match on Saturday.

The fourth-seeded Spartans improved to 14-4 on the season and 1-1 in UAA contests, while the eighth-seeded Yellowjackets fell to 6-12 overall and 0-2 in conference play. CWRU will face third-seeded and 14th-ranked Carnegie Mellon in the Fifth Place Match, and Rochester will face seventh-seeded and 31st-ranked Brandeis in the Seventh Place Match.

Sophomores Hannah Kassaie and Lily McCloskey started the match with an 8-3 win over Josephine Libby and Rola Abouzeina at first doubles. Senior Nina Hoog and sophomore Anna Kan followed with an 8-4 win over Jaclyn Dron and Sanjana Karnam at third doubles, and sophomore Radha Patel and first-year Katalina Wang completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win over Jasmin Toor and Stephanie Kim at second doubles.

With a 6-0, 6-1 win over Neha Dania at fifth singles, first-year Asha Shukla put the Spartans a point away from clinching the match. Senior Shreya Ramani earned the final point, besting Kim 6-3, 6-0 at sixth singles for the 5-0 win.

When the match was called, Kassaie led 6-4, 1-1 at first singles, McCloskey led 6-1, 5-3 at second singles, Patel led 6-1, 4-1 at third singles, and Kan led 6-3, 4-1 at fourth singles.
