The 12th-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team lost to #1 University of Chicago 5-0 in the semifinal round of the University Athletic Association Championship tournament at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans, seeded fourth in the conference draw, fall to 16-3, while top-seeded Maroons improve to 17-1.

First-years Hannah Kassaie and Lily McCloskey had the closest doubles match, losing 8-6 to Sylwia Mikos and Shianna Guo, the top-ranked doubles pair in the Central Region.

In addition to the doubles sweep, the Maroons earned wins at fifth and sixth singles to punch their ticket to the UAA Championship Match. Chicago led the other four singles matches when play was halted.

CWRU, which already clinched its best-ever finish in the UAA, will face third-seeded Carnegie Mellon University in the Third-Place Match on Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
