The 12th-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team lost 7-2 to 11th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University in its regular season finale at the Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford, Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans fall to 15-2 on the season, while the Tartans improve to 13-5.

After dropping the first two doubles matches, first-years Lily McCloskey and Anna Kan won 8-6 at second doubles over Janabelle Wu and Crystal Zhou to give Case Western Reserve its first team point. Sophomore Pallavi Goculdas and junior Nina Hoog fell 8-3 to Lindy Cornwall and Bin Zheng at first doubles, while at third doubles, first-year Radha Patel and sophomore Katherine Wang lost 8-2 to Zoe Angell and Megan Qiang.

Patel claimed the lone singles win for the Spartans, defeating Zhou 7-5, 3-6, 6-1 at second singles. Kan and first-year Madeleine Eiss each fell in three set singles matches. Kan lost to Cornwall at third singles 1-6, 7-6, 9-11, while Eiss dropped a 1-6, 6-3, 2-6 decision to Zheng at fourth singles. 

With the regular season complete, the Spartans will next compete in the University Athletic Association Championship at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Quarterfinal matches are scheduled for Friday, April 22 at 8:30 a.m. with action continuing Saturday, April 23 at 12:30 a.m. and concluding on Sunday, April 24 at 8:30 a.m. Seedings and quarterfinal matchups will be announced early next week in advance of the tournament.
