The Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team remained perfect on the season and extended its winning streak to five matches with a 9-0 victory over Allegheny College at the Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, Pennsylvania on Saturday night.
The Spartans improve to 4-0 on the season while the Gators fall to 3-3.
Case Western Reserve started the night by winning all three doubles matches. The Spartans struck first at second doubles with sophomores Pallavi Goculdas and Katherine Wang winning 8-2 over Katherine Marks and Sabrina Rodriguez. At third doubles, senior Shreyaa Mukund and first-year Anna Kan defeated Katherine Stancil and Allison Riley 8-3. CWRU completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win at first doubles by first-year Madeleine Eiss and junior Nina Hoog over Jean-Arlette Legrand and Ella Swan.
At fifth singles, sophomore Caitlyn Hsu bested Noelle Kidd 6-0, 6-1, while senior Eliza Georgiades did not lose a point at sixth singles, beating Riley 6-0, 6-0 to clinch the match for the Spartans. Kan added to the CWRU tally with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Rodriguez at third singles, while Eiss improved to 11-1 on the season in singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles over Swan.
At second singles, Goculdas battled back against Marks after dropping the first set 2-6 to take the second set 6-3. She would win the third set in a 10-6 tiebreaker to give the Spartans their eighth point. Wang defeated Stancil 6-4, 6-1 at fourth singles to complete the 9-0 sweep for Case Western Reserve.
The Spartans return to the court on Sunday to face Otterbein University at the LaTuchie Tennis Center at 3:30 p.m.
