Women's Tennis

No. 29 Spartan Women Fall to No. 8 Chicago

The Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team, ranked 29th in Division III, suffered an 8-1 loss to the eighth-ranked University of Chicago at the Dewitt Tennis Center in Holland, Michigan on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans dropped to 2-2 on the campaign with the loss, while the Maroons raised their record to 5-0.

At first doubles, junior Madeleine Paolucci and first-year Savannah Bright were able to take four games from Claudia Ng and Perene Wang. Junior Nicole Cardwell and first-year Shreya Ramani were also able to take four games from Catherine Xu and Eugenia Lee at second doubles.

The Spartans' lone win during the match came at first singles, as Paolucci defeated Lauren Park 6-1, 6-3.

Case Western Reserve will conclude play this weekend when they travel to Kalamazoo, Michigan to face Kalamazoo College for a 9:00 a.m. meeting on Sunday, February 16th.
