FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The No. 27 nationally ranked Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team fell to No. 1 Johns Hopkins University (Md.), 7-2, in the finale of Mary Washington University's Blue/Grey Invitational.
The Spartans fall to 6-6 in dual matches, with six of their last nine against nationally ranked opponents.
The Blue Jays (8-0) led 2-1 after doubles as CWRU scored its lone point behind an 8-6 win on court three by sophomores Taylor Sweeney (Fort Gratiot, Mich./Port Huron Northern) and Michelle Djohan (Westlake, Ohio/Westlake) versus Abby Clark and Olivia Kasten.
CWRU's lone singles point came from sophomore Surya Khadilkar (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Hawken School), who won 6-4, 6-3 over Shannon Herndon at No. 4.
The Spartans will next compete on Wednesday, April 2, when they host The College of Wooster at 3:30 p.m.
