The Spartans
CWRU, which stands at 29-8 overall this season, earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship after placing second at the University Athletic Association Championship in late April. After receiving a first-round bye, the Spartans bested Ohio Northern 4-1 in the second round and 15th-ranked Mary Washington 4-0 in the third round. On Tuesday, CWRU defeated fourth-ranked Denison 4-3 to reach Wednesday's semifinals.
The Spartans' lineup features the sixth-ranked doubles pairing in junior Trey Lambright and graduate student Bryce Ware, and the 25th- and 33rd-ranked singles players in junior Santiago Salazar Garza and senior Matthew Plunkett, respectively.
The Stags
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps will enter Wednesday's match with a 33-1 overall record and winners of 18 consecutive matches. After winning the SCIAC Championship to gain an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, the Stags bested East Texas Baptist in the second round and Sewanee in the third round, each by a 4-0 score. They went on to defeat 11th-ranked Emory 4-1 on Tuesday in the quarterfinals to set up the semifinal matchup against the Spartans.
The Stags are led by Advik Mareedu, who is the top-ranked singles player in Division III and part of the top-ranked pairing in the country along with Caleb Settles. The lineup also includes 19th-ranked Warren Pham and 48th-ranked Henry Wilson.
