#5 Spartans to Head to ITAs with an 8-0 Record after Wins over Lake Forest & Rochester

The Case Western Reserve University men's tennis team, ranked fifth in Division III, continued its strong start to the season on Saturday, besting Lake Forest College 7-0 in Oberlin, Ohio, in the morning and the University of Rochester 7-0 at the Mayfield Village Racquet Club at night.

The Spartans will head into next weekend's ITA Indoor National Championship with an 8-0 record. Lake Forest fell to 0-2 with the loss, while Rochester dropped to 2-1.

Spartan Notes


  • Bilski and Salazar Garza each improved to a team-best 5-0 in singles matches this spring.

  • Totorica and Chen improved to 7-0 together this spring and 13-2 overall, including the fall. Lambright and Ware are 10-1 together this year.

  • The Spartans have won each of their eight matches this spring by a 7-0 score. CWRU has gone 48-0 in singles matches and 22-2 in doubles contests so far this spring.

  • Including the fall, CWRU improved to 168-52 (.764) in singles play and 68-29 (.701) in doubles action as a team this season following Saturday's action.

Up Next


The Spartans will now turn their attention to the ITA Indoor National Championship, which will be hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, next weekend. CWRU, the third-seeded team at the event, will open play on Friday, February 20, against 11th-ranked and sixth-seeded Johns Hopkins University.
