The Case Western Reserve University men's tennis team turned in a stellar effort during the first day of competition at the 2026 Intercollegiate Tennis Association, with all three doubles pairings and all four singles players staying alive in the draws at the event, hosted by Wabash College at the Brownsburg High School Tennis Facility in Brownsburg, Indiana, on Friday.
CWRU also had a solid performance at the Warrior Fall Invitational in Detroit against Wayne State University, winning three doubles contests and 10 singles matches.

CWRU players went 6-0 in doubles matches and 8-0 in singles play to reach the round of 16 of their draws.

Each of the three Spartan doubles teams won two matches on Friday. Top-seeded seniors Trey Lambright and Derek Shiffer bested Adrian's Michael Mascarin and Luca Coutinho 8-3 in the round of 64 and Trine's Drew Hackney and Landon Basset 8-3 in the round of 32 to advance to the round of 16. The duo will take on ninth-seeded Heyang Li and Timothy Nguyen of the University of Chicago in their next match on Saturday.

Third-seeded juniors Rowan Matorin and Leon Chen claimed an 8-2 win over Anderson's Arturo Mendoza and Martin Suarez in their first match and an 8-0 win over Transylvania's Noah Earlywine and Luke Earlywine in their second, and will face Millikin's Nicolas Siqueira and Colin Klein in the round of 16 on Saturday.

Juniors Jon Totorica and Rohit Jain, seeded seventh, claimed an 8-4 win over Benjamin Tichauer and Brady Huggett of Oberlin and an 8-2 triumph against Eli Mcintyre and Ervin Perkowski of Rose Hulman on Friday. The pair will face ninth-seeded Jay Dixit and Jonah Ng of Kenyon in their round of 16 match on Saturday.

In singles action, third-seeded Santiago Salazar Garza came from behind for a 0-6, 6-2, 10-8 win against Calvin's Rodrigo Alipio in the round of 64, before besting Greenville's Jean Sanabria 6-1, 6-1 in the round of 32.

Sixth-seeded George Kosseifi picked up a 6-0, 6-2 triumph against Principia's Mattia Zanetti and a 6-2, 7-6 win against Trine's Drew Hackney on Friday.

Totorica, seeded eighth, claimed a 6-3, 6-1 win against Christian Droz of Wittenberg, and a 6-4, 6-2 against Rose Hulman's Ephraim Guthrie.
