Case Western Reserve University men's swimming and diving team's 200 Free Relay set a school record on the second day of the 2025 University Athletic Association Championships hosted by Emory University at the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatic Center in Atlanta on Thursday.
The relay, consisting of juniors Emil LaSida, William Froass, Ben Borvendeg, and Mason Bencurik placed sixth in the finals of the event in a school record time of 1:22.29. The quartet bested the previous record of 1:22.38 set by LaSida, Borvendeg, Ben Zuo, and Jackson Pollard at last year's conference championships.
LaSida added a sixth-place finish in the 50 Free, finishing the A Final in 20.41 seconds. Borvendeg qualified for the C Final of the and placed 22nd overall in 20.90 seconds.
Junior John Drumm added a second top 10 individual finish for CWRU, placing 10th in the 500 Free with a time in the B Final of 4:31.94.
Competing in his first collegiate conference championship meet, first-year Edgar Rutkauskas placed 22nd in the 200 IM in 1:52.91, qualifying for the C Final with a time of 1:52.53.
The Spartan 400 Medley Relay of LaSida, Rutkauskas, Drumm, and Bencurik finished the day by placing sixth in 3:19.41.
The UAA Championships continue tomorrow with the 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 200 Medley Relay, and men's 3-meter dive. Preliminary races begin at 10 a.m. with finals scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.

- After two days of competition, CWRU is sixth in the team standings with 332.0 points. Emory leads with 575.5 points, followed by Chicago (568.5), NYU (568), Carnegie Mellon (434), and WashU (393). Rochester (245 points) and Brandeis (178) both trail Case Western Reserve
