Box Score The 19th-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team concluded its Spring Break trip to San Antonio with a 7-2 loss to fifth-ranked Wesleyan University on Tuesday morning at the Butch Newman Tennis Center on the campus of Trinity University.
With the loss, the Spartans fell to 6-3 on the season with all three losses to teams ranked in the top 15 of Division III. The Cardinals improved to 3-0 with the win.
Juniors Hannah Kassaie and Lily McCloskey won the first doubles match 8-3 over Caitlyn Ferrante and Sarah Youngberg. Wesleyan took both the second and third doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.
CWRU earned one of the six singles points as sophomore Katalina Wang bested Leila Epstein 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 11-9. At fifth singles, junior Radha Patel took Lane Durkin to three sets, ultimately falling 2-6, 6-4, 2-10.
Case Western Reserve will next compete at the Blue Gray Invite, hosted by the University of Mary Washington in Lexington, Virginia. The Spartans begin play with a match against 29th-ranked Southwestern (Texas) on Saturday, March 23 at 3 p.m.
