Box Score The Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team continued its strong start to the fall season with a solid performance at the Big Red Invitational hosted by Denison University in Granville, Ohio, on Saturday and Sunday.
Spartans combined for a 23-1 (.958) singles record and 10-1 (.909) doubles record at the invite. Competing in a hidden dual format, members of the team faced opponents from Centre College, Otterbein University, and host Denison throughout the two days of competition.
12 members of the team went undefeated in singles play, and eight Spartans earned at least two singles wins. Senior Chloe Ku and first-year Prachi Shah each went 3-0, and seniors Caitlyn Hsu and Katherine Wang, junior Lily McCloskey, sophomores Asha Shukla and Elsa Syed, and first-year Kareena Sivanesan each won a pair of matches.
In doubles play, the partnership of senior Pallavi Goculdas and Katherine Wang had a 3-0 record, and the pairings of McCloskey and junior Hannah Kassaie and junior Radha Patel and sophomore Katalina Wang won two matches each.
CWRU will conclude its fall season next weekend with the ITA Central Regional Championship hosted by Washington University in St. Louis from September 22-24. If any Spartans reach the finals in the singles or doubles draws, they will qualify for the ITA Cup held from October 12-16 in Rome, Georgia.
